Stephanie spent 15 years as a corporate tax accountant before she decided to enter Appalachian State University to work toward her teaching certificate. Stephanie found a love of teaching children when she was introduced to EPAL’s, a program sponsored through Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, that was designed to improve children’s reading and writing skills.
Instead of pursuing a job in public education, she found a position at Gaston College working as a GED/Remedial Instructor where she taught both in a classroom and a lab environment. There, she instructed students with very little literacy skills in math, reading, and writing work their way to taking the GED and enrolling in community college courses. After having her children, she entered the homeschool community in 2012 and homeschools her two boys, Colin and Alexander. She also is a private tutor and, in her spare time, she likes to study history and hike. She has taught upper elementary English Language Arts, Math 7, and JA Biztown.
